Community Garden Welcomes New and Returning Gardeners!
Do you want to spend more time outdoors this spring and summer? Get fit and healthy growing vegetables, berries and herbs with friends and family? Meet fun people in a relaxed social setting? Learn more about growing flowers, vegetables or herbs? Christ United Methodist Church’s community garden welcomes YOU!
Relax on a garden bench, have coffee or a cool soda with friends under our gazebo, pick a few grapes from our community grapevines, or wander the garden and enjoy the fragrances and beauty of nature. The garden is open for all to enjoy, but please don’t disturb individuals’ produce or flowers — they belong to renters.
Congregants and neighbors who can commit to tending plots at least twice a week and are willing to invest at least one hour a month (six total for the season) on communal projects, are invited to rent a plot and bring the garden to life! Plots rent for only $15 for a 4×8 plot, based on availability. Gardeners provide their own seeds or plants, do their own weeding and watering, and agree to abide by basic policies common to organic community gardens.
An exciting array of community service opportunities include: watering ornamental beds, tending compost, light weeding or spreading bark chips, pruning grapes, hosting or co-hosting social garden events, contributing material for the website, building or renovating raised beds, or doing special projects. Friends and family are more than welcome to join in.
To apply for a plot, check availability first as they are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Then download the application (below), complete it, and send it with payment to Becky Lovejoy, Garden Manager. Questions? E-mail us at GrowStuff@Comcast.net.
